Dome-Up and Dome-Down Volunteers Needed
In April every year, the club needs as many volunteers as possible to help raise the inflatable dome. In September, we need volunteers to help deflate the dome and pack it away.
The club membership fees were raised in April 2002 to include the cost to the club of hiring a team of strong-men to help carry the heavy components of the dome - the plastic inner lining, the outside cables and the sand-bags.
We still need lots of people to help carry out these items from the storage house to cover the three courts. Anyone who is prepared to help us is very welcome - club members, parents of juniors, friends of club - anyone!
If you are prepared to commit yourself for at least a half-day (or preferably the whole day!) to helping out with the dome, please send your name to any committee member. We will arrange some food and drink for the workers.
We need definite names and attendees please - no time wasters!
Dome-up and dome-down days are usually Saturdays.
Tasks
week before Dome-Up day
- put up the wings, fan cover
- check fan
week before Dome-Down day
- take down lights, nets, posts, court dividing net
Dome-Day
- take out three plastic covers, cables
- inflate dome
- anchor the dome with sand-bags
week after Dome-Up day
- put up the lights, nets, posts, court dividing net
week after Dome-Down day
- arrange for generator and engine to be serviced
